The “Iranian scientific Society for suicide prevention” is a nonprofit institution which officially started its activities in 2013 with the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Our missions include the followings:

1. 
Research on suicide detection including suicidal thought, attempts, and suicidal death in Iran and the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) region.

2. Designing and implementing effective suicide prevention studies in Iran and the EMRO region.

3. 
Promoting the knowledge and awareness of society and sensitizing authorities on the subject of suicide prevention through the publication and dissemination of an English journal, educational pamphlets and bulletins.

4. 
Collaborating with national, regional and international organizations (Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, World Health Organization and other international organizations in the field of suicide prevention)

5. 
Collaborating with the executive organizations and institutions to develop and implement the required services for suicide prevention.

About IASP:
The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) was established in 1960 and is the largest international organization dedicated to suicide prevention and to the alleviation of the effects of suicide. The organization now consists of professionals and volunteers from over 50 countries worldwide.
The IASP also co-sponsors World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10thevery year, with the World Health Organization.
Also, IASP holds international congresses every two years and provides awards for those who have contributed in a significant way to the furthering of the aims of the Association.
